About this gift

Alpana is the auspicious white line Bengali women draw on courtyards and thresholds for Lakshmi puja and every festival. Here the same lotus, creeper and kolka (paisley) motifs are painted freehand onto turned and carved wood, so the blessing can sit on the table all year.

Inside: 2 wooden serving boards with hand-painted handles. Every piece is nested in crinkle paper inside a rigid Purva Heritage gift box, ready to hand over. The boards are cut and shaped from solid wood and oiled; only the handles are painted, so the boards stay usable for cutting and serving.

The painted surface is decorative: wipe with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry at once. Do not soak, put in a dishwasher or scrub the painted areas. Keep out of long direct sun.
