About this gift

A Diwali gift of art & heritage

Brass and kansa (bell metal) have been part of the Bengali home for centuries — the thali at a child’s annaprashan, the vessels in a bride’s trousseau, the lamp at puja. Bankura’s metalsmiths still beat, turn and engrave these pieces by hand.

Inside: 2 engraved lidded brass jars; Lotus and paisley gold-painted wooden tealight holders with tealights. Every piece is nested in crinkle paper inside a rigid Purva Heritage gift box, ready to hand over. The jars are formed in brass and engraved by hand with bands of folk motifs; the knob lids are turned to fit snugly.

Wipe brass dry after use. To restore the shine, rub gently with a paste of tamarind or lemon with salt, rinse and dry fully. Avoid harsh scourers on engraved or painted areas. Never leave a lit tealight unattended; place the holders on a heat-safe surface.
